Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island (SNEI), connecting the main urban areas of Nanjing and Jiangbei New Area, plays a vital role in the city’s transport network. SNEI is expected to be built into an island with a developed transportation system.
The Jiangxinzhou Station on the island of Metro Line 10 is opened to the public now, while that of the Line 4 is under construction. Moreover, preliminary plans are underway for the constructions of Line 13 and 17, making it more convenient for residents on the island.
Four channels crossing the Yangtze River are planned to be built for the island. Yingtian Avenue Yangtze River Tunnel and Jiangxinzhou Yangtze River Bridge are currently in use to cross the channel. Hanzhong West Road Yangtze River Tunnel is being designed, and the construction of Mengdu Avenue Yangtze River Tunnel, a green, low-carbon tunnel, is under discussion.
A public transport transit corridor called Zhongxin Avenue linking the north and the south is designed to connect metro lines with other functional areas and provide transit services for other public transports, including autonomous buses and green shuttle buses.
Currently, four kinds of complimentary shuttle bus services are available, including two for regular routes to the south and the east, one for loop routes on weekends and holidays, and one for tourism on holidays.
Based on the balanced development between ecology and technology, along with the continuous improvement of the transport network, SNEI will play a more critical role as a transportation hub, and the city-island integration will be further promoted.
