Mutual Benefits

To build up a new model of cooperation

China and Singapore, which is the largest source of investment and important destination of investment for China, enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges. This year marks the 45th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, and two countries have officially advanced into an “all-round high-qualityfuture-oriented partnership”. The practical cooperation between Singapore, Jiangsu and Nanjing will embrace new development opportunities in the future.

Deng Zhiyi, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and vice mayor of Nanjing Municipal People’s Government, pointed out in his speech that Zheng He, the Chinese renowned navigator, visited Singapore many times during his seven tours from Nanjing to the west over six hundred years ago. In recent years, Nanjing and Singapore have comprehensively deepened economic and trade cooperation. In the future, Singapore and Nanjing will join forces  to promote trade and investment  facilitation, expand the opening-up of service industry and improve coordination in science, technology and innovation development, further consolidating accomplishments and promising more new benefits.

"The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce will spare no effort to work with Nanjing to boost Singapore-China cooperation, development and friendship." Kho Choon Keng, president of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce, said that the Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island is a new model of cooperation between the two parties in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, industry-city integration, and sustainable development. In the future, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce will also actively facilitate the development of Singapore-China business and bilateral exchanges between Singaporean and Chinese-funded enterprises.

At the meeting, Zhong Shengjian, chairman of the Board of Directors of Yanlord Land Group and director of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce, said that Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island is Singapore’s second regional comprehensive economic and trade cooperation platform in Jiangsu after the establishment of Suzhou Industrial Park. Nowadays, the island has become a window for Nanjing’s green and sustainable development, a central city hall, and a new business card for economic and trade cooperation between Singapore and Jiangsu. More Singaporean companies and talents are welcomed to invest and start business on the island.

At the end of last year, the State Council officially approved Nanjing to launch a comprehensive pilot program to expand the opening-up of the service industry, which has brought new strategic opportunities for Nanjing to improve its city level and gather advanced resources from the global service industry. It is an integrative cooperation project jointly developed and constructed by Singapore and Nanjing. It is also a model for a future city jointly created by China and Singapore. As the island's garden city begins to emerge and industrial development continues to accelerate, it will become the first choice for Singaporean companies to invest in China.

Following the meeting, a roadshow event was held.
